Luminette 3 review: effectiveness, pros and cons

More compact, portable and easy to fit into a daily routine, light therapy glasses promise the same benefits... without being tied to one spot. And solving that exact problem is why I treated myself to the Luminette 3.

After several months of use, here's my full review: effectiveness, comfort, strengths, and limitations.

What are light therapy glasses?

Unlike traditional lamps that require you to sit in front of a light source, light therapy glasses project their light directly into your visual field.

The goal is the same: compensate for a lack of natural light, regulate the internal clock, and stimulate serotonin production.

Their main advantage? They let you carry on with your activities during the session (working, reading, making breakfast, etc.). That's what convinced me to switch from the lamp to the glasses.

My experience with the light therapy glasses

I was pretty skeptical at first. Having been used to my 10,000-lux lamp, I doubted such a compact format could deliver comparable results.

Yet after around ten days of daily use (20 to 30 minutes each morning), I noticed several improvements:

  • waking up felt easier;
  • less fatigue during the day;
  • more stable mood;
  • better concentration in the morning.

The real game-changer is consistency: because they slot so easily into your routine, you don't skip sessions — unlike with a fixed lamp.

Unboxing the Luminette 3: first impressions

Opening the box, you'll find:

  • a protective case;
  • a USB-C cable;
  • a microfibre cloth;
  • a user manual;
  • a warranty certificate;
  • and of course, the glasses!

The glasses felt well-made and definitely don't feel cheap in your hands.

I'll be honest — I didn't bother reading the little instruction manual.

Impatient as I am, I switched them on straight away. You really do feel like you're holding something futuristic.

Unlike me, I'd recommend reading the manual — it clearly explains how to position the glasses properly to get the most out of them. There is a small initial adjustment to make.

Features

The Luminette was designed to be both effective and comfortable:

  • compatible with prescription glasses;
  • lightweight (51 grams) and won't dig into your nose;
  • doesn't obstruct vision thanks to indirect light diffusion;
  • comes with a charging indicator;
  • compliant with international standard IEC62471 on photobiological risks and classified as "risk-free" for the eyes.

Three colours available: blue, pink, green.

How I use them every day

I put my glasses on as soon as I walk into the kitchen. My session starts while I'm making breakfast. It continues through eating, brushing my teeth, and the start of my workday.

The Luminette can be worn over prescription glasses. Worth noting if you're considering other models!

It took me a while to start wearing them at the office when I wasn't working from home — let's be honest, despite their elegant design, wearing them in public takes a bit of courage.

But like anything, once you've taken that first step, it becomes completely natural. You just have to accept being a novelty act for a few days while everyone asks questions 😁

The advantages of light therapy glasses

✔ Freedom of movement

That's their number one selling point! You can move around, work or even walk during a session. It's genuinely a game-changer!

✔ Time efficiency

No more sitting in front of a lamp for 30 minutes. You make the most of your morning by multitasking during the session. You barely even feel like you're doing a session.

✔ Compact format

Easy to carry around, they're great for travel and commuting. Just don't forget to charge them.

✔ Shorter sessions

Some models only require 20-minute sessions.

Downsides to be aware of

✖ Higher price

Glasses generally cost more than entry- or mid-range lamps.

✖ Unusual light sensation

Having light in your visual field can be surprising at first. I've read that some people needed a few days to get used to it. Personally, I had no difficulty — though that may be because I was already familiar with light therapy.

The Luminette offers 3 different light intensities so you can find the one that suits you best and gradually build up your exposure.

✖ Limited battery life

Unlike a lamp that stays plugged in all the time, you'll need to remember to charge the Luminette. That said, it's a minor inconvenience compared to the freedom of movement it offers.

I usually charge mine in the evening. Once fully charged, I can do 3 sessions of 30 minutes at maximum intensity.

My final verdict

Does the Luminette actually deliver? For me — without any doubt, yes. It's a modern, flexible solution that fits right into a busy lifestyle. That's what matters most to me personally, but only you know what your priorities are.

If you've ever skipped a session because you couldn't sit still in front of a lamp for 30 minutes, these glasses will change everything — provided you're comfortable with the higher price tag.

I'll be straight with you: I barely touch my lamp anymore. For anyone with a busy morning, the glasses are in a league of their own.
